When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us-Alexander Graham Bell

Visitor to our garden

The Garden back home has many visitors starting from beautiful butterflies to poisonous snakes.During my stay at home, my brother captured the picture of a special and new visitor to our garden.
Here is the visitor-Indian wood pecker who visits our garden frequently.

Its searching for its food.

               Picked its food

Posed for the picture.
Actually,the bird noticed us.

          Turned back to escape.
Its very difficult to take  picture of birds, once they come to know that you are watching them they escape.

Earth day

                                                               Dawn at my in-law's place
DD who blogs  at http://thesundialgarden.blogspot.com/  has invited me to join Earth day reading project of The sage butterfly.
The rules of the project are here
The three  books for Earthday reading  are:
1.The Lost child written by Mulkraj Anand.
In this story a child is taken to a village fair, the child is attracted by the toys and wants to buy them. The author describes the excitment and the fear of the child very nicely. The story describes beautifully how the child enjoys the mustard fields. When he is about to ask for a ride in a roundabout his parents are not be seen . A kind person offers him all the things which he wished for, but now the Parents are important for the child and all the other things are nothing for him.
2. The power of positive thinking by Norman Vincent Peale.
I read this book when ever I am  depressed. Its like a energy drink for me.
3.Swami and Friends by R.K.Narayan. This Novel involves around Swami a young boy with his strict father, mother and a grandmother and most importantly his friends in Malgudi, a village. Its fun to read this novel.

The blogs I invited include

During my trip to India, I captured some of the flowers from my parents home in my camera. So here goes......
;
 Pink Oleander
This flower plant was given by a gardener to us.

I cannot find out its name.My neighbour gave this plant for our garden and this plant stands in front of our gate and welcomes friends and relatives who visit our home.

                                                                           Pomegranate Flower
This fruit bearing tree was bought from a nursery near by our home.I wanted to take the whole picture of the plant to show it to my blog follower DD who blogs here. It was not possible in my parents garden to take the photo of the plant. So when I visited my grandparents home I got the below picture of the plant from their garden.
